I was disappointed when he missed the 52 yard fg yesterday. I mean he has made some longer than that.

But I looked back on his stats and he is about 50% of his 50+. Granted 52 yards being of the bottom of that 50+ attempt.

Kasay's probably going through a minor ailment right now. Honestly I'd have had Todd on kickoffs more anyway, but John's length on kickoffs has fallen shorter in the past few weeks. Early in the season he was good with his control and could pick for high, slow and at the 10 or line drives to the endzone.

I think that's right. I think his range has just gone down some. That FG would have been good from 45 yards or so. Most excellent Ks are only about 50% over 50 yards, anyway. Letting him off KOs might be good.

The problem with Sauerbrun kicking off is that he gets no elevation on his ball so they're line drives. What would you rather have, a line drive kickoff to the 2 yrd line, or a high kick to the 10-15yrd line.

Amazing how we're ready to jump on Kasay because he's missed a 50+ fg, and a could 45+ last week. I still feel very good about him being our kicker. And we knew going into the season that he had lost some distance on his kickoffs.

This is the same guy who has won about three games for us. This is all a part of the season, folks. There are going to be some great times, and there are going to be some frustrating times. We need to focus on the Eagles, as this is a MUCH more important game than the Cowboy game.

not "ready to get on him", but rather more concerned he may be injured.

Yes, definitely concerned. I wonder why they haven't said anything about his being injured if he is.

I just pointed out a fact:

He's missed 50% of his FG's in the last 2 games. His kickoffs were so poor, he was benched by the coaching staff in favor of the punter. He missed alot at practice.

    Just facts.

Hurney was on the WRFX post-game show...when asked about Kasay, he really seemed uncharacteristically evasive...insisted that "John is fine" and "there's nothing wrong with John"...

    Red flags?

    Conspiracy theories?

He started out the season kicking good balls deep on kickoffs. That is starting to taper off while at the same time affecting his primary task. I am not ready to dump on him, he is way too important to this team. We need to conserve him. Sauerbrun gets better with this KO's over time, so I say get him full reps in practice and make him the kickoff guy.
