Well, that's my opinion, and his play on the field is not enough that I'd think it out weighs his off field issues, penalties, and fines, that are either a distraction to this team off the field, or hurt this team on the field. Coop is easily my least favorite player on this team.

you're dead wrong by saying that getting a DUI was Coop putting himself before the team. People make mistakes and when you're drunk, you most likely don't even think about the consequences of what you're about to do. Of course it's wrong, and he's accepted responsibility, but alcoholism is a disease with scientific evidence to back that up. It's not as simple as hitting a switch.

We're 2nd in the league in kickoff coverage...you really think Coop isn't a part of that?

Coaching might have a little something to do with it. So do the other 10 guys.

Look, that's fine if most everybody supports Coop and will miss him. I won't.

Well, you know what they say about opinions.

As I opined earlier, you must not be watching our games. Aside from the double (sometimes triple) coverage routinely applied to Coop at the start of a kick, usually yet another player runs a crossing route to attempt to contain him on his side of the field. Nice for us to tie up 3 or 4 of theirs covering one of ours. Sure, O'Brien draws up the plays, but who do you think executes them? Don't spout off about how he hurts the team on the field. He hurts the OPPOSING team on the field.

Off the field and in the locker room, Coop isn't a distraction, he's an inspiration. He happens to be very well-liked among his teammates, and with good reason. He's also respected by management and the coaching staff, otherwise he WOULD have been gone. Neither Richardson nor Fox is known for suffering fools lightly.

I am not aware of any occasion where Coop "put himself before the team" or "disrupt[ed] team chemistry". If you believe the former you know nothing about alcoholism, and if you believe the latter you need to get your chemistry set back out and try a few strips of litmus paper. Our team chemistry right now is worthy of Mr. Wizard.

I hope the team stands behind him and suports him in this. IMO they didn't do much to support Kerry Collins but then he had a bad attitude, Coop does not.

You know him personally or something?

I agree with Y2 on this. He's a fucking Special Team's player. We can't find another guy on our roster to run down the field and try to tackle the returner?

No, just going on the image in which he presents himself.

    Are you always an asshole?

Yes, you asking me that question from the context of which I made my statement sounded like you were an asshole.
