    I talked with the guys operating the thing. Unlike the one ABC/ESPN uses this one has all of the ropes running to 3 winches located in one location. The ABC/ESPN unit uses 4 winches in each corner of the stadium.

    The nylon ropes they use are very strong. Although it looks like there are a bunch of rope there are only 2. They home run to the winches. The rig the camera is mounted on can carry 200 lbs. The guys said they give people rides on the rig sometimes...

    Because the rig can carry a heavier payload they can carry a better camera with a better lens. The #1 Fox crew uses High Definition cameras even though the games are not in HD.

    The league requires the camera to be kept behind the play. This is to keep the camera out of the QB's field of view...
