What if he said "Tom Jones is over-hyped, he's not that good, the media just so badly wants a successful white runningback" ?

I don't think what Rush said is racist. I do think, however, that he is wrong.

I don't think the media has propped up McNabb because it wants black quarterbacks to do well. The media has been all over Kordell Stewart when he doesn't play well. They've also jumped all over Rodney Peete when he doesn't play well.

The media has talked good about Michael Vick, McNabb and Steve McNair, not because they were black but because they were good.

Simple as that. So, I think Rush was wrong in his comments.

However, I don't think they were racist. If he thinks the media wants to promote black QBs, I don't see that as a racist opinion.

By the way, here are Rush's comments, verbatim:

"I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well," Limbaugh said on Sunday's show. "There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."

I think the fact that none of the others on the set responded to his comment shows that they didn't see it as a racist comment either. They saw it as a blast on the media.

they did respond to it. nobody right away came out and said anything about "where the hell do you get off saying anything about him being black?" though. i think they were probably a bit stunned. but they all responded to it. tom jackson appeared to be the most upset. steve young got fired up, too.

They were talking about McNabb and the Eagles, and McNabb's lowest QB ranking in the NFL, and Rush decided to tell the world that when he watches football, he sees black QB's and sees white QB's, not just QB's. That's a problem because it shows who he is.

I don't know how else to explain it for those who don't get it. Rush is exposed. A lot people are prejudice and go around saying there not, and believe their not, but they are, and Rush is one of them. Lee Trevino is another one.

you are stupid. two of rush's best friends are are of african decent as are several of his key employees. he calls things like he see them,a lot of people don't see things like does and it pisses them off that he has the bully pulpit to espouse his views.

See, they have a lot in common. Both have made openly racist comments, both see UFO's. Granted, Rush's are drug induced, but same result.
