    Injuries taking toll on Saints
9 players will miss game with Panthers
    Associated Press

NEW ORLEANS - New Orleans Saints coach Jim Haslett might have trouble finding 45 healthy players for Sunday's road game against the unbeaten Carolina Panthers.

Haslett lost four more players to injury in his team's 55-21 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, meaning as many as nine on the 53-man roster will not play against Carolina.

Special teams will be without return specialist Michael Lewis, who is expected to miss three to four weeks with an injured groin.

The already-depleted defense will be without free safety Tebucky Jones, who is expected to miss at least two weeks with an injured groin. Defensive tackle Kenny Smith is expected to miss two to four weeks with a sprained knee.

Left offensive tackle Wayne Gandy is expected to miss one to two weeks with an injured hamstring.

Five players injured previously have been ruled out of Sunday's game: cornerback Dale Carter (eye), defensive end Darren Howard (knee), defensive tackle Johnathan Sullivan (knee) and linebackers Sedrick Hodge (knee) and Cie Grant (knee).

kick em' while they are down.

lord knows it has happened to us for 5 years. its about time some division rivals get beat up when we are at near full speed. this is life in the NFL, when your team is beat up, you get your ass kicked, if you stay healthy, you win big. Collins, Biakabatuka, Peter, Chuck Smith, Jeffers, etc have killed us the last 5 years, I don't feel sorry for them.

    I count

5 healthy DL. Game plan - wear them down with the run early and often...

Is Aaron Brooks, Duece McAllister, and Joe Horn healthy?

We'll need a two score lead as soon as possible. I don't want to sit and watch a 10-6 game down to the wire on this one.

There's a real danger with the Saints this week. A lot of people there's no film on trying to make an impression and their wounded badly. A light could go off and they could play wide open with no abandon. This is a team not to be taken lightly.

    Dyson, Pittman, Fields, Morgan.
    Thems all impact starters too.

I purtneer freaked when Jenkins got shook up last week.

Dem Saints is got an O that can put points on the board, they could come to play and be dangerous.

    I ain't takin'em lightly a'tall

From here forward is where we reap the benefits of our depth. Injuries are going to pile up on all but the luckiest teams. I remember when folks were saying what difference does it make that we won all our preseason games, because we were winning them with backups. I'm sure the Saints would love to have the depth we currently have!
