damn Meat but what were you saying at halftime?

I was trying to get on here and curse the Panthers like never before but PC problems kept me off all day

Peete was hoorible - that TD they gave up with no time on the clock was pathetic - Peete had -9 yards passing until he got in a few crappy completions

but damn if Delhomme didn't energize the team - davis ran for nine yards every time delhomme handed off while he could only get 2 when Peete handed off to him

Delhomme really impressed me the way he came back from his mistakes - he didn't hang his head - just came back and made plays.

And I was impressed the way the team came back after taking the lead and giving up that quick TD back to the Jags.

Steve Smith on his returns and Smart and his awesome special teams play deserve alot of credit.

Mags shouls wear that Rod Smart avatar proud - He Hate Me is the man.

I don't want to jinx him, but man it was like watching Favre when he first became a starter for the pack. He has that same go for it tude, and obvious love of the game. As someone else said, I don't care if he costs us a game or two, watching him play makes it worth it.

Though we are ragging on Peete, he looked like he took the benching pretty well... was standing up on the sidelines and cheerin for his boys and congratulating them when they came to the sides... props for being a standup guy about it

You bet, Peete deserves to be ragged as the starting QB. But he's a terrific human being and team player. That's why the team loves him, and why this little "let Peete play himslef out of a job" thing was probably necessary. I just love that it happened so quickly and decisively. It could have dragged out.

He was talking to Delhomme before he went in for the last series, just like a coach.

Absolutely. The first man off the sidelines to congratulate JD on his first touchdown was John Fox. The second was Rodney Peete. That was a class move, IMO.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. Another class move. And you know what? That's what he was brought here to do last year.

    I did note that myself.

I wouldn't mind, next year, if he was a coach for us.

It might happen. I read somewhere (Gaston Gazette? Rock Hill Herald?) that he has bought at hi-rise condo somewhere in the wealthy area of uptown Charlotte and one of his neighbors is NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon. He said that he really doesn't buy a house anywhere he plays; he rents instead. Lemme go look to see if I can find it and post the article.

<<Okay, found it. This is part of an article from the GGonline.
But Peete insists it’s not all parties and social functions, and admits having his wife working thousands of miles away in Hollywood is not easy.

During the NFL season, Holly spends three weeks working on the set and then has 10 days off. During that time, she and the couple’s three children — 5-year-old twins Rodney Jackson and Ryan Elizabeth and a 1-year-old son Robinson James — fly to Charlotte to be with Rodney.

“It’s really tough being without them for a long period of time,” Peete said. “Two of my kids are older now and it’s tough because they’re starting to understand when I go away and knowing that daddy is going to be gone for awhile. So yeah, that’s hard.”

When his family is out of town, Peete can be found pouring over game film at Ericsson Stadium.

“I’m a gym rat, basically,” Peete said. “When there’s nothing to go home to, I just really stick around the stadium.”

But Peete admits sometimes that can be more of a detriment than a benefit, and that it’s important to get away and get your mind straight.

“When you leave here you like to leave football behind and go home and see your family and get into that world. So it’s great when they’re here,” Peete said. “It’s more relaxing when they’re here. When they’re not here I go home and I’ll sit and think about, ‘OK, what are we going to do this week and what plays are we going to run?’

“Even though I’ve left the stadium you can’t turn it off. When you have kids running around it’s easier to turn it off. And you need to turn it off or you start going a little crazy.”

The Peetes own a high-rise condominium in an wealthy part of uptown Charlotte. In fact, he’s neighbors with Winston Cup driver Jeff Gordon.

Peete said it’s the first time since 1993 that he’s bought a home in the city where he plays football. In Philadelphia, Washington and Oakland, he rented a place, unwilling to commit given his uncertain roster status.

But he feels like he wants to be a part of the community in Charlotte even after he’s gone. He’s gotten involved in several charities and met a variety of businessmen through his connections with the team.

“I will always try to have some presence here in the community and with the Panthers,” Peete said.
