I gotta assume they're looking to bring a back in, then. Brown was good 3rd RB. We're paper thin at a spot that was strong two weeks ago. And between him and Bates, we've lost two good special teamers, and two good return men. Now we've gotta put Smith out there with Baker as our return men. I'm not really that comfortable with that.

I was busy doing something else and realized that the cuts were in! Kasay over Graham? That's kind of surprising to me. Granted, Kasay's one of our originals, but his injury-prone past concerns me. And so does the money, but I don't control the purse strings.

I wish everyone that got cut or waived good luck. Too bad Peete wasn't one of them!:p :laugher:

Brown... WOW! I did not see that one coming. Come to think of it, Dee got caught in the numbers game and he's not a STs guy. But then again, Hankton made it and that's ALL he's good at. I can't believe we are six-deep at WR and Hankton made it just because of STs, which leaves us thin at RB. How can the staff be so sure that Foster is healthy enough to be reliable? If he goes down then we have Davis and Smart and if Davis is banged up we have only Smart. Excuse the pun, but that move was not a SMART by the staff IMO. I like Rod, but we should have kept both Dee and he, in doing so, dumped Hankton. Our bread and butter position on offense is now our thinnest, depthwise... that doesn't seem logical. Of course the staff could be looking to pick up someone off waviers, though unlikely.

i'm telling ya, the staff was really impressed with Smart's work ethic and versatility. That paid off in him taking out Brown.

I know I've pimped him some, but they like him even more. He's a good special teams player, better than Brown in that respect, and he can contribute in ways on O Bates cannot.

Agreed 100% on Smart, but only 3RB's? Hankton doesn't offer that much.

I'd have expected keeping Smart and Brown, cutting Bates and Hankton. Brown was a performer on ST too.

I figured Bates would stick as a KR.

A lot of teams only keep 3 true tailbacks. Of course, their #2s aren't allways coming back from knee injuries.

hell I have no problem with Hankton, but Rassmussen staying and dropping us thin at RB?? hell I'd rather see us keep another DB or OLB than to keep a guy at a position we're already EXTREMELY deep at

So do we stay put with only 3 RBs and hope they all stay healthy? If the staff weren't satisfied with our depth beyond Davis and Foster who should be cut if we claim a RB off waivers?

One more issue...Branch backing up Grant, WTF? Colin hasn't shown anything this preseason and we all know that the staff isn't gun-shy about yanking Grant out of the game for bad play, so we replace him with Branch? I thought he should have been cut and signed to the PS. He would have cleared waivers with no problem. Deke is a hell of a lot better option than Branch.

I've got to believe Rasmussen and Reyes are here only on a temporary basis. A 5th DE isn't a necessity, neither is a flag drawing OL. Marquis Smith may not be around long either if another OLB can be found. The only thing I can figure at RB is that they may use Goings both as a RB and a FB.
