I checked earlier in the week and WFMY Channel 2 in Greensboro's programming showed Panthers-Redskins at 8 Saturday night.

    Hold your horses, guys!

If the game isn't sold out by 8 pm tonight (8/6), it's going to be blacked out in Charlotte and the surrounding areas. Kinda of like what happened during the season last year when a couple of our games were blacked out. Let's hope it gets sold out.

    as far as i know

those rules don't apply to exhibitions, mainly cuz network tv doesn't cover most preseason games.

the panthers use companies like raycom to broadcast preseason games.

so even tho the game is on fox 18 this week, it is not necessarily a fox sports broadcast. it's locally produced and not subject to nfl rules.

Re: as far as i know

I disagree. This comes from the State newspaper (the Fishwrapper cuz):

    Panthers tickets

Approximately 1,600 tickets remain for Saturday's presesaon game between the Carolina Panthers and Washington Redskins at Ericsson Stadium.

If the game is not sold out by 8 p.m. today it will be blacked out in the Charlotte and surrounding areas, including Columbia and Greenville. Tickets can be purchased through any local Ticketmaster outlet or by calling the Panthers ticket office at (704) 358-7800.

Meanwhile, the regular-season game against Atlanta has sold out, and limited tickets remain for the Nov. 9 game against Tampa Bay and Nov. 16 game against Washington.

we'll see who's right. makes no sense for the nfl to expect ALL preseason games to be sellouts.

    oh hey look:

    http://panthers.com/gameday/

    On The Air
Carolina will appear on the Panthers Television Network with the announcing team of play-by-play announcer Bill Rosinski, the Voice of the Panthers, game-analyst Ethan Horton and sideline reporter Pete Yanity.

The Panthers Radio Network enjoys its fourth season with flagship station WRFX in Charlotte. WRFX Sports Director Jim Szoke handles the play-by-play with game analysis provided by former NFL great Eugene Robinson.

    oh and

    http://panthers.com/photos/uploadedFiles/DMOOKKKFDHCD/was_release.pdf

nowhere does it mention about blackouts or Fox Sports. blackouts apply to regular season games and network broadcasts.
