please explain your football knowledge and background, because while I'll agree he is a possession reciever he actually dropped few passes and caught more passes than Steve Smith did last year... in a perfect world I'll admit I'd rather Moose be our number 2 reciever, but we don't have better than him right now... frankly a top level rookie as the #1, Moose as the #2 and Smith lined up in the slot sounds VERY good... but as of right now Moose IS the best we have... does he drop the ball more than I'd like... yes, but so does Steve Smith... hopefully after next year that area will be improved, but until then we have to work with wwhat we have

It was posted on this Board over the winter during a rather heated "Moose" debate.....no. drops, drops as a percentage of catches, etc. Don't remember the source, but if you search the archives for Moose threads you should find it.

Drops are not an official stat. I saw some convuluted site where someone tried to calculate it, he had something like 8% drops of balls thrown to him, but that is purely subjective.

Moose is what he is, a big strong possession reciever with a hamstring problem. And yeah, he's the best we got.

Moose has only missed 8 games out of a possible 80 in the 5 years he's been a full time starter, and 5 came during 2001. Led the NFC 2 consecutive years in catches while doing so. Get over the Moose hate, dammit.

Yeah. Teams really worried about putting 8 or 9 in the box when Moose went down last year.

    B/C Moose sucks.

Teams didn't need to ever worry about putting 8 or 9 in the box, unless they overpursued on the inevitable draw play. Pretty hard to argue with irrefutable evidence like "B/C Moose sucks" :D

And I suspect we will see the same effort next time his contract is up. My problem with Moose has never been his potential his desire on the other hand I have always questioned. As far as stats go I think Smith was more impressive last year considering it was hes first year as WR and nobody can question his fire.
