Nope, they declined because Mooch was his number one canidate. If they weren't "number one" then they didn't want to interview. He couldn't even get Sherm Lewis to interview and he was and still is on the staff.

Millen interviewed a few people including Moeller...he wanted to interview Marvin Lewis but couldn't because the Ravens were still alive in the playoffs and NFL rules prohibited it.

The rule was not put in place because of the morningwood hiring. That is simply a false statment.


Funny, because there are few hundred black players right now that are fighting to make roster spots. If they applied the same principals as the 5 black coaches, then they wouldn't show up unless promised they were first string.

 

he actually contacted the Lions in December thinking morningwood would be fired...but at the time Millen said he was happy with morningwood. It was only after Mooch got fired in SF that Millen fired morningwood...which was after telling his job was safe.

Mooch wasn't a slam dunk...he contimplated taking a year off...and he's one of the highest paid coaches in the league.

Well we have a very different memory about what was said. That's what's being reported now, by reporters who are not very accurate, but I remember distinctly what I said the 1st time. I was shocked Millen could say anything so stupid, but he sinks to new lows all the time.

If what you say is true, it would be very strange, but I remember it otherwise. Since we can't go back and listen again, I guess we'll have to rest on those memories and move on.

 

Trust me, I'm a lions fan and have been for over 30 years...I follow them pretty close...

Seriously, what has the world come to....no one can hire who they want to hire based on perceived qualifications alone. Must there be a "quota" for everything these days?
