    - but how do I add that little icon down in the bottom toolbar on my screen that I can click - and it will take me to my desktop and icons - so I don't have to shrink every screen I'm working in - just to get to my desktop...

    any help will be appreciated - thanks...

    In XP it points to this file which is in the User's folder.

    "C:\Documents and Settings\USERID\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\Show Desktop.scf"

    Try Right click on the task bar
    then click toolbars
    then click quick launch

    Thanks ya'll - VOR - yeah - that's the icon that I DON'T have - but wanted to know how to get it - I talked with a tech and they said that my version of Windows doesn't have that - and I'm not savvy enough about what versions have what to know the difference so... I sort of do what DaveW says now - and just right click on the bar at the bottom and choose "Minimize all windows"

    Try pressing the 'Windows' key + the lettter 'D'. I think that's the quickest way to the desktop with all windows minimized.
