dont get me wrong, Petty was a damn good driver. Just like you said, "no one is ever gonna touch that again." Not even Petty could do it today.

That's like saying Elvis wouldn't have a hit song in today's Top 40.

I think that Kyle just doesn't care. He doesn't have to care.

I would love to see him win a race though. I think that it would be cool.

Comparing Richard Petty's era to today is like comparing apples and oranges. However, not showing him his due respect is shamefull. Richard is the ALL TIME leader in wins, no matter when he did it.

When Richard drove, the driver went as fast as they could go and hang on to it in the corners. There were no stupid restictor plate races to take the driving talent out of the outcome. Now it's just surviving the big wreck and see where you end up. The series is more competitive now than it was then. Back then you only had 2 or 3 guys who could win. Now you may not see a guy win two races until 12 races into the season.

As for Petty Enterprises today, I believe it has as much to do with choosing drivers.
    Bobby Hamilton-out of WC
    Wally Dallenbach-on tv
    Rick Wilson-out of WC
    Buckshot Jones-out of WC
Jerry Nadeau-still in the sport and the best driver they've had and almost won last year.
John Andretti-never shown he can run at the top in any series-why else leave cart anyway-remember before he came to nascar he was drag racing
Adam Petty-the future was being planned on him and I think he would've done well
Christian Fittapaldi-been successful but already 30, I think, and he needs experience and then he might run competitively.

Kyle can't drive and try to run the operation at the same time. I like Kyle, but he needs to decide what's best for the team and step aside and run the operation without driving. Put someone else in the car. The biggest thing they need to do is find a young talented driver and bring him along like they were doing with Adam. They need to find someone like Kyle Bush, who Hendrick signed, to do this. They're not going to do it getting a 30 year old rookie.

I got to meet Kyle during the last off season and was left with the exact same opinion. I never realized how involved he was in running the operation.

Kyle Busch would've great for them. I was at the Charlotte Busch race last month and he made a big impression on me. But someone like him (age & talent wise) would be the prefect direction for them.

    Let.....

Richard sit back and sign autographs.
Kyle get off the track and run the operation.
<insert new, young driver here> get behind the wheel.
