He's gotta be high profile. You don't get there by just being great, nor do you get there by just being an asshole or a con artist. You have to do enough of both to get enough to believe. They're about hype, so they're going to have a little of their own hype.

He made a lot of money up front for all that dancing. He doesn't shovel shit for a living, he doesn't force NFL teams to believe anything they'd believe otherwise, as long as they did their own work. And if they don't, they get scammed.

I knew McGahee was nowhere near perfectly healed. In 8 weeks a normal ligament is healed, and that's not bionic or extraordinary. And he can't run now. Jerry Rice made a miraculous 4.5 month recovery, McGahee's full of shit and Rosenhaus is too, but Drew did what he had to do. If Willis doesn't go first round, the chances of him working out and being given another chance with his first team are smaller.

I vote for slimeball, but it's not just Rosenhaus. I think all agents are shady. The majority of them are lawyers or have law degrees which pretty much says it all. Just a bunch star-fuckers.

Two thoughts, first, slimeball or super agent: Saying somebody is a 'good' agent is fairly akin to saying somebody is a 'good lawyer': you have to have a fair amount of slime to be either. So, I guess that depends on perspective...which brings me to thought #2. If Buffalo really did draft that kid with no calls to drs., therapists, etc. then they really fucked up. I suppose their perspective would be that the agent is a slimeball. One question: Just because a guy is drafted, doesn't he (or shouldn't he) have to pass a physical before he is signed/gets money? Or is there some sort of automatic "draft bonus" or some such thing?

This is my take on agents: :wtf: and :backstab:

This is a sample conversation between agent and draftee:

AGENT: Stick with me, kid and I'll get you everything you deserve. (Meanwhile, I'll just take 80% of your signing bonus and 60% of your salary for my time and troubles. )

DRAFTEE: Gee, thanks.:) You'll be my agent forever.:mushy:

    AGENT: (SUCKER!!!!)

I could feel the love eminating from this thread.

Based on my personal experience, most of the guys who went to law school and then became agents, failed miserably. Those that made it were used car salesmen in another life and probably in this one at some point. Law school had nuthin to do with it.

If the front offices of all these teams are really that gullible then I'm switching careers pronto to become a GM.

Give them more credit than that. The Bills probably decided they were willing to draft him, pay him 1st round money, and then sit on him for a year + until he gets healthy. They must think he's that kind of talent and can come back.

If they did take him as a result of agent induced faux peer pressure, then they are retards who shouldn't be making decisions of that $$ caliber. Rosenhaus is a slimeball, but i don't blame him for their stupidity.

They interviewed Rosenhaus on PTI. He was remarkably honest. He said the cell phone stunt was better than letting the kid sit there getting depressed. I agree. That stunt was to give McGahee something to do, and to impress future potential clients with his "resourcefulness." I dn't think he thought it would influence teams. ALTHOUGH it could influence a team who might be thinking about trading down to take him not to do it. Or a team that was thinking about trading up to aim a little higher. But such a team would call for real and ask if they had talked to other teams. DR said he might exxagerate, but he would not lie to a team. He has to deal with them again. Aside from keeping McGahee busy, I think this belongs with all the other draft smoke, and mostly is just funny.

Now, what was Rosy going to do if some team was trying to call his boy while they were fooling around and he missed out on getting drafted? How many teams are going to sit there and redial when they get a busy signal? "Oh, he's already been drafted by somebody else. His phone is busy. Let's draft Sam Jones outa Noname University." Then, his boy doesn't get drafted because Rosy pulled this little stunt. It coulda backfired on him. Whadda maroon! (a Bugs Bunny quote!:D )
