More from St. Louis Post Dispatch

Tight end Ernie Conwell will arrive in Charlotte, N.C., today for a free-agent visit with the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are looking for a starting tight end after releasing veteran Wesley Walls.

Although other teams have expressed interest, it appears that Conwell will decide among the Rams, the Panthers and Jacksonville by the end of the week. Conwell's visit with Carolina concludes Thursday.

The Rams are believed to be offering Conwell a multiple-year deal averaging about $1.6 million a year. A second-round draft pick in 1996, Conwell is second among the Rams in tenure. Only wide receiver Isaac Bruce, a 1994 draft pick, has been with the team longer.

Wide receiver Ricky Proehl, a former Ram recently signed by Carolina, is recruiting Conwell to play for the Panthers.

1.6 mil a year? is that a price the Panthers will be willing to match / beat and fit in the cap? How much was WAlls making?

    Since we're talking TEs...

How good is the guy that was pimping Jakie D. so hard from the 'Aints? I can't remember the dude's name! SENIOR MOMENT!! Does anybody remember his name? If I remember my facts (which I probably don't!:D ), he's from NC and he was pimping JD to us really hard before we signed him (Delhomme).

Crap! I can't remember his name and I even started a thread about him right after Delhomme signed with us! This is really sad.
