Ernie Els has won 4 out of 5 tournaments he has been in this year. Do you think he should be considered the number one golfer in golf right now?

Puttingood you know Tiger was inspired after Els won the first two PGA tour events.Els is out of the gate in ahuge way.Based on wins and his start I would rank him #1 right now.Tiger of course will provide the chase.I hope Els or someone provides a pennant race type scene for Tiger....Mickelson " tiger hates that i can fly it by him" liner provided Tiger some fuel.Mickelson was paired up with Tiger in the final round and crumbled..so ELS ranks #1 right now.......wins in the 5 of 6 events is big..very big...

and another thing did Mike Tyson really think we would buy into his fight hype?..He has sparred 40 rounds sisnce Lewis whacked him...did an interview with some fight people on the show last week and they all said the fight would never happen...Tyson is having some "flip out moment again"

and yeah folks i love the idea of Annika Sorenstam playing Tiger head to head....and yes the perfect date ( Ian O'Connor USA TODAY) would be on Sept 20th the 3oth anniversary of the Bobby Riggs vs Billie Jean KIng tennis match......would ya like to see that or would it be to much of a hype????..Ladies tee's vs mens or both use the mens teee? I would love to see her issue the request in public...why not the LPGA lacks appeal to the masses.....i would watch right????

and another thing folks the NFL is really pushing to get the "cherry pick" option for monday nite football a few times a season...you know get the match up they want...what about the fan who bought a ticket to see a certain game and then the game opponents are switched??? is this a big dealor what??
Buying a ticket should allow you to see who you wanted! RIGHT????

time for a break...your on THIS BOARD ROCKS!!!! more calls on the board coming up!!

    V-Man,

what are your thoughts on changing the first round playoff series from best of 5 to best of 7? You think the Lakers and Stern are in on this deal? :D

    Also,

Your thoughts on more foreign players coming to the NBA. I think the NBA needs more of this to even out the style. From what I've seen, these international players are fundamentally sound rather than your flashy, get on ESPN highlight players of today's NBA.

welcome to the show......the extension to 7 games is the obvious drain the pocket approach....get more $$$$ more tv to satisfy the new cable deal and allow the league to further enchance their tv and radio reach in the new money wells of latin america, europe and the far east. It also serves well for the better teams and helps diminish the chance of an upset.(How ya gonna stop Kobe and Shaq in a 7 game series...mid level teams had reach into the energy line for 5 but not 7...it protects the better teams......the players union only bought into it becasue now vets with 4 or more years experience can report to camp 4 days later and the money pool goes up for the playoffs.....

I like your comment about the foreign players....just remind the American team about the "flex cut offense"...(back doors cuts...screens and swings of the ball and the basic approach of passing and sharing the ball when it matter and the USA shuters at the thought that the USA kids "shake and bake to much"
NBA teamsare looking into the foreign talent bank like madmen!!!

It also gives the league the look it needs... a return to solid basketball play......we taught them the basic( i' used to go to europe and speak at hoop clinics) and the coaches and players are hungry....we spoke about the fundamentals....they carry them thru and USA players tended to shy away from the basic rules......they took the game and respected the foundation of how its to be played...USA guys wanted to much flash.......
Mix their style with ours and you have a nice game to watch....it sends a very strong message to the young players in the USA now that they notice how many foreign players are being taken in the early rounds...their BIGS can run and pass and shoot.....

Not many will admit this but it also caters to the fan base since it gives a more complete racial balance to the league....the foreign kids can play!!!!!!!!!..The game is going back to more of the solid stuff thank God!!!! I love some flasj and dunk etc but the sweet backdoor cut or the give and go can still create nightmares for many!!!..good question!!!...NEXT!!!!

Don't believe you can compare the Tig and Annika show with that circus back then. After all--Billie Jean was at the top of her game and who the hell was Bobby Riggs to start with.:)

    not comapring..

not comparing just the historical reference and timing would be right on since the ladies game needs some pop to it and the timing wold make it a media darling of an event since this country loves the hype it would create.......thats why i hope that the mens game will present Tiger with a rival that would serve up some of those moments that rivals create for sports.....

agree 110%. I just turned on the show and the horrible lynn and lisa segment is on. This makes the darby derby look like a smart person on jeopardy.

    vman...long post alert...

Since you were here for the first few years of the Charlotte Hornets experiment, how would you stock the team for year 1. Since my thought is that you won't be particularly good, and at best get the 9th best players on each roster, do you stack the team with ACC/C-USA/SEC/other regional players? Here are some of those people that could be available in 2 years.

    Dion Glover, Atlanta Haws, GT
    Shammond Williams, Boston Celtics, UNC
    Roger Mason, Chicago Bulls, UVA
    Walt Williams, Dallas Mavericks, UMD
    Junior Harrington, Denver Nuggets, Wingate
    Chris Whitney, Denver Nuggets, Clemson
    Jon Barry, Detroit Pistons, GT
    Hubert Davis, Detroit Pistons, UNC
Bobby Sura, Golden State Warriors, FSU
    Terence Morris, Houston Rockets, UMD
    Jamison Brewer, Indiana Pacers, Auburn
    Cherokee Parks, LA Clippers, Duke
    Corey Maggette, LA Clippers, Duke
    Jason Caffey, Milwaukee Bucks, Alabama
Rodney Rogers, New Jersey Nets, WF
George Lynch, New Orleans Hornets, UNC
David Wesley, New Orleans Hornets, exception pick for fan favorite-Dell Curry role
Charlie Ward, New York Knicks, FSU
    Grant Hill, Orlando Magic, Duke
    Tom Gugliotta, Phoenix Suns, NCSU
    Scott Williams, Phoenix Suns, UNC
    Dale Davis, Portland Trailblazers, Clemson
Danny Ferry, San Antonio Spurs, Duke
    Kenny Anderson, Seattle Supersonics, GT
    Eric Montross, Toronto Raptors, UNC
    Tony Massenburg, Utah Jazz, UMD
    Christian Lattener, Washington Wizards, Duke

you try to build from the inside out...get some bigs.....a few guards.....and some guys that simply jump out of the building..it doesn't matter if these leapers can shoot just guys that can go get it!!!..of course you want quickness etc..i like getting the longest guys you can find that can run.......build a TEAM that can run and trap and play uptempo....entertain the fans.........build the blue print....long team.....play 94 feet........quick hitting club that loves to score...........amen
