    Interesting conversation

After these notes and knowing our needs, I could see Proctor or Sadiq as Panthers if we stay at 19. Sadiq could line up as WR or TE and blocks, so we will see

GBN Report is a fairly conservative bunch and does have a few connections. Interesting tidbits about WR's and OT's

We have also heard from more than one source that nobody should be surprised if Georgia OT Monroe Freeling sneaks into the top 10 on the 23rd. The thing is that the two top OTs in this year’s draft class – Miami’s Francis Mauigoa and Spencer Fano of Utah – are being thought of by most teams around the league as better suited to kicking inside to OG. As a result, any team looking specifically to upgrade at OT might seriously consider taking an actual OT! It also appears that both Blake Miller of Clemson and Alabama’s Kadyn Proctor, who have been all over boards around the league this year, are back in favor with top 20-25 grades. We are also hearing that teams that do want to upgrade at OT aren’t going to be able to wait as once the top 7-8 prospects at the position are off the board they’ll be looking at a lot of college OTs that look more like they’re destined to play inside at the next level.

There is an interesting dynamic at WR where it appears that there is significant buzz about both of the top receivers – Ohio State’s Carnel Tate and Makai Lemon of USC – the volumes are very different. With Tate, for example, its pretty loud, whereas its rather muffled with Lemon, but it does seem to be there with both. On the other hand, it appears there are some major durability concerns about Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson such that nobody should be surprised if Indiana’s Omar Cooper ends up being the 3rd receiver off the board later this month. In fact, we’re hearing nobody should be surprised if Cooper were to be selected in the top half of the opening round. On the other hand, if there is a player who could be in for a log wait on the 23rd, it could be Tyson. Stay tuned!

All of those OTs going early will certainly push a WR down the board. I also wonder if a defensive back would be available, or in trade-up range. I doubt we would do that though, but I would love to get Mansoor Delane or Jermod McCoy. Mike Jack is good but not getting any younger. Dillon Thieneman would also be nice, but that pick would just shock me.

I think the odds favor receiver, then OT, and then maybe, maybe a DT. Sadiq is this year's Jalon Walker--everyone is mocking him to us but we're not taking him.

This is what a mock looks like where it's heavily weighted towards players the Panthers have met with.

This assumes a level of introspection most NFL GMs are manifestly incapable of. one of them will see "the next Josh Allen" and do it again. just like Anthony Richardson.

Also Wentz was a legit MVP candidate at QB until the injuries seemed to fuck up his internal clock- most teams would gladly take a chance on a Wentz if they thought he wouldnt get speared by that Shithead Clowney

Front offices are getting smarter over time. Something like the Sean Gilbert trade or the Saints trading an entire draft for Ricky Williams would never happen in 2026. The wheels of progress with QB decisions move slower, though. The allure of getting THE GUY will always be there.

I kinda love what Miami is doing with Willis. Give him a contract that you can void next off-season and see if he can elevate a limited supporting cast. If he can, he's legitimate, and you can build around that. If it doesn't work out, you just draft one next spring with the #1 pick you're likely to have, and Malik can go be a wealthy career backup for the next decade.
