    Led Zeppelin - Kashmir

    Led Zeppelin - Kashmir (1975)

Kashmir is on the lush south western side of the Himalayas

    "Kashmir"

Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face
With stars to fill my dreams
I am a traveler of both time and space
To be where I have been
Sit with elders of the gentle race
    This world has seldom seen
Talk of days for which they sit and wait
    All will be revealed

Talk and song from tongues of lilting grace
    Whose sounds caress my ear
But not a word I heard could I relate
    The story was quite clear
    Oh, oh
    Oh, oh

    Ooh, baby, I been flying
No yeah, mama, there ain't no denying
Oh, ooh, yeah I've been flying
Mama, mama, ain't no denying, no denying

Oh, all I see turns to brown
As the sun burns the ground
And my eyes fill with sand
As I scan this wasted land
Trying to find, trying to find, where I've been

Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace
    Like thoughts inside a dream
Here is the path that led me to that place
    Yellow desert stream
My Shangri-La beneath the summer moon
    I will return again
Sure as the dust that floats high in June
    When moving through Kashmir

Oh, father of the four winds, fill my sails
    Across the sea of years
With no provision but an open face
    Along the straits of fear
    Oh, oh
    Oh, oh

    Ooh

Oh, when I'm on, when I'm on my way, yeah
When I see, when I see the way, you stay-yeah
    Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, when I'm down
Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, but I'm down, so down
Ooh, my baby, ooh, my baby, let me take you there
Oh come on, oh, let me take you there... let me take you there
Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, let me take you there... let me take you there

Aphex Twin (Richard James) is a British Gen Xer musical innovator who belongs in the musical hall of fame.

Here is a local jazzish band covering him many years ago.

My wife and I saw these guys a couple of times. Very impressive. They once did a play along to a classic black and white film that we saw that was awesome. They served beers in the theater and everyone was cheering.

The Bad Plus - Aphex Twin - Flim cover (2016)

    1.25 speed is recommended

Led Zeppelin - The Rain Song

Led Zeppelin - The Rain Song (1973)

1.25 speed is recommended. The couterpunctual background classical arrangement in this rock and roll song is outstanding. I am starting to think Led Zeppelin is the best example of rock and roll, overtaking Pink Floyd. Of course, we all now realize that rock and roll was a British invention. Good job American Boomers.

Two Iranian classically trained in Western Music, one living in USA and the other living Germany, react to American Boomer music.

Oh wait, Led Zeppelin are British. The best rock and rollers of all time are British.

It is the springtime of my loving
The second season I am to know
You are the sunlight in my growing
So little warmth I've felt before
It isn't hard to feel me glowing
I watched the fire that grew so low
It is the summer of my smiles
Flee from me Keepers of the Gloom
Speak to me only with your eyes
It is to you I give this tune
Ain't so hard to recognize, oh
These things are clear to all from time to time, ooh, oh oh
    Talk
    Talk, talk, talk, talk, hey!
I've felt the coldness of my winter
I never thought it would ever go
I cursed the gloom that set upon us, 'pon us, 'pon us
But I know that I love you so, oh oh
But I know that I love you so
These are the seasons of emotion
And like the winds they rise and fall
This is the wonder of devotion
I seek the torch we all must hold
This is the mystery of the coldest quotient
Upon us all, upon us all a little rain must fall
It's just a little rain, oh, oh, ooh, yeah

Stones were a US blues tribute band before becoming famous. Actually had some good blues cuts.
Clapton and all his bands were basically knocking off US blues artists.
Even Elvis, having gone to black churches growing up, leaned into those roots for much of his music.

Little Richard might have been one of the pioneers of American music.

I had all the Zeppelin albums going through my early years. Much of the Pink Floyd stuff too. I was more into the guitar, so Floyd fell behind w me, even though Gilmore was talented.
Other bands I enjoyed from across the pond were Bad Company, who had one of the best R&R voices to date in Rodgers

Just about all of southern Rock, late 70s and early 80s, were all influenced by the blues. Allman Bros, Skynyrd, etc.
