Rostering 7 WRs isn't unprecedented, although it would be strange for a team that allegedly wants to run the ball more. In that case, it would be better to have a blocking TE who could dabble at FB instead of two slot receivers. They'll probably keep six and dress five, with three active TEs. James Mitchell has flashed enough to be Tremble's fill-in.




The QB room feels fragile. Jack Plummer is a nice young man, but Morgan needs to start looking elsewhere, especially with Dalton starting to disintegrate. Maybe just carry a vet who wouldn't completely fall apart in an NFL game instead of some developmental lark.

 

It's kinda crazy to be right back in that spot after expending so much this offseason. Pat Jones doesn't feel like an upgrade over Clowney.


Injuries stop being back luck at some point. You're either missing on something in your evaluations or your training staff is a clown show. My gut tells me that the Tepper era Panthers just don't know how to pick/sign guys who take care of themselves. It's probably a blindspot within the team's data-driven autism.

 

Jones is six years younger than Clowney, and marginally cheaper. He's not an upgrade, but he's not really much of a downgrade either. And he will be here longer than Clowney would have.
