Trey Hendrickson

I've talked myself into this idea, for these reasons:


1) Watching the other NFCS teams this preseason made me realize the Panthers are a division contender. None of these teams are winning more than 10 games, so go throw your hat in the ring.


2) Morgan and Tillis are reasonably good at the salary cap shell game. I'm more willing to accept the notion of salary cap being kinda bullshit, and that competent execs can "figure it out". Plus the shithead owner can theoretically cheat the system with escrow.


3) Hendrickson seems to be getting better with age, which can happen for non-skill position defensive talent, so your big extension might be a bargain in two years. The guy is also great in the culture setting, reliable white guy role.


4) I'm tired of the Panthers sucking ass. That's the primary reason, actually.

Does he come with a shot of adrenaline for the offense?

 

Depends on the comp I guess. This feels like a move you make after a 7-9 win season here to start going all in on a presumably ascending Bryce. They want a first which seems high. a second or 3+5 would have me pulling the trigger. Hopefully with some offramps in the contract in case we're starting rebuild number ??? of the tepper era I've lost count.

 

I would not risk the future on something like this.

If Bryce sucks this season and the offense overall blows, then we will be looking at new coach and new QB and will need all the firepower draft picks in hand

 

doubt on new coach unless canales does something really dumb. if anything we get his handpicked QB in a lame duck season....

 

back to Trey... its hard to overstate how bad the situation as edge has been. much like my love of a WR1 that you can't really cover a DE that can wreck your offense no matter what would be nice to have again.

 

Let's send them Shy Tuttle and DJ Johnson and they can give us some used game programs. Then we can begin talking about Hendrickson.
