Thanks for your help. I am usually the backup IT person, but the IT Manager was laid off in August and the responsibility became mine.

    I'll try your suggestion.

    Thanks again.

I think CharlotteDude may be right... if the SIMMs have ANY type of corossion (sp?) then it won't complete POST... and by holding it he allows them to connect... so GOOD chance that using the eraser to clean the leads it will fix you problem

Would you be willing to re-locate to southern New Hampshire?

There will be an IT position open at my company in April.

Indeed you may have loosened or bent a support for the drive connector, or other connectors for that matter. I had a similar problem with a toshiba laptop that hit the floor one day, the expansion ram connector was bent out of alignment and didn't really contact the card edge any longer. A wad of paper in back of the connector and jamming the expansion ram cover into it forced the connector back into position. The people are still using it that way, it was cheaper than buying a new case. Sometimes you have to tinker with things.

I'd feel a lot better about passing your name to our company if:

    A. I knew your name.

    B. We met in person and I determined whether you are a conscientious worker or a scoundrel.

    C. You weren't a Carolina fan. But I'll let this one go.

Yes, I took the laptop completely apart and put it back together making sure all the connections were in good shape. I did use the eraser trick. I think the problem was a small cable with two connectors that connected two boards together (note: not quite a computer technical guy yet.) This was just below the area that I needed to press to get it to work.

    Thanks for everyone's help.
