I thought with the roster Ron left you could make a run to a wildcard spot by doing the same.

Then they dropped a ton of vets.

The new coach owes the current roster nothing.

The only offensive lineman that Rhule inherited who was worth a damn was Taylor Moton. In Ron's last year Dennis Daley got starts at LT. Our defensive line was Gerald McCoy's corpse, Dontari Poe, Vernon Butler, and Mario Addison. Keuchly retired and Bradberry went to New York. Donte Jackson, Tre Boston and Shaq Thompson were our other 2019 starters who made it to 2020. Yes, we had CMC for a while, and DJ Moore. Olsen retired and Samuel went to Washington.

Who is making a wildcard with that mess? Compare that to a young and decent O-Line with two good bookends, Moore, CMC, Burns, Brown, Luvu, Chinn, Horn, etc... I think our roster is literally a QB and TE away from being very competitive. With the right coaching, of course.

In 2020 an 8-8 bears team coached by Nagy qb'd by a combo of foles and trubisky was a wild card. So yes that mess could've made the wc. And Samuel was still here for that.

It's sad that you can make a positive comparison for Nagy with Matt Rhule.

My point is, we're in much better shape now than we were in 2020.

that Bears team without Khalil Mack could have been a 5 win team instead of 8

If carolina traded that list then they'd be the worst team in the NFL. ... wait, they already are.
With the possible exception of CMC any player that would bring a decent pick is too valuable to lose.

He exists, but you don't pass up an opportunity to take Stroud just because Corral is on your roster. He was a third round pick who looked bad in the preseason. Not that he is bad, but clearly he needs a lot of work.

Yeah Corral is a bonus if he turns into something. If the next coach us hired on turning him into something... you'll get to tell your grankids about the panthers superbowl and no seriously I know it isn't in vr but it's still entertaining...
