So @ 13 the Hornets pick a player that wouldn't even work out for them.
Jalen Duren didn't think he'd drop all the way to 13, but there he was and he got picked.
So the Hornets got another center project, albeit this one more of a rim runner than the last ones.
Physically Duren is more suited for the rigors of the NBA right away.

@ 15 this is just crazy. They draft another center taking Mark Williams out of Duke.
Do they have dreams of turning one into a forward? IDK

    WTH?

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported the Charlotte Hornets were trading No. 13 pick, Jalen Duren, to the Detroit Pistons. Duren is the youngest prospect in the draft, but also arguably the most physically gifted big man in the class, at 6-10, 250 pounds with a 7-5 wingspan. Drawing comparisons to a young Dwight Howard, Duren is a powerful, spectacular leaper who increasingly emerged as a force inside the paint on both ends of the floor with his ferocious finishing ability and the quickness with which he gets off his feet for offensive rebounds and blocks. He has a ready-made role from day one as a lob-catching, shot-blocker with the huge catch radius he displays, the excellent timing he shows as a rim-protector and the way he uses verticality to his advantage.

    Hornets traded #13 pick for a 2023 1st and a bunch of 2nds.
Still have Haywards contract on the books

Hope they can unload a couple picks and his contract tonight

Given the past luck of the Hornets when involved with a draft day trade is that Duren will go on to have a Hall Of Fame career and Williams will end up being a mediocre at best player.

The Hornet's second round pick Josh Minott:
    Post-Draft Analysis
Minott struggled to get on the floor at Memphis for big chunks of the season behind 25-year-old DeAndre Williams, which has kept his draft stock in check and made him somewhat of a surprise early-entry candidate. When given the opportunity, Minott showed impressive flashes of talent with the footwork, body control, quickness getting off his feet and touch he demonstrates from the free-throw line and around the rim, along with how hard he plays on both ends of the floor.

He's a magnet for fouls attacking the rim, is highly switchable on the perimeter and is always around the ball as a cutter and offensive rebounder. At 197 pounds, and without a consistent jump shot, Minott is likely several years away from playing meaningful minutes in the NBA, but he has really intriguing long-term upside both physically and skill-wise as the game slows down for him and he's able to play through physicality better after working on his frame. -- Jonathan Givony

I wonder what the percentages are of second round picks having allstar careers?

Mitch Kupchack is an idiot. Trade ahigher drafted player at 13 for a protected pick that can't be higher than 14 and a slew of 2nds. Like seconds always make teams. I could see this if it was our 2nd 1ST rd pick.

I like how the Knicks traded a 1st rd for three first but we trade a first for single less valuable first rd pick

Thought it was protected to 4, not 14?

I heard on FNZ this morning that the Knicks' fans are ready to revolt. Then again someone in NY is always pissed.
