Rattler is probably going to go first overall, although I don't like him a ton. He forces plays and can be inconsistent, reminds me a little of Josh Allen in that way. He's got a great arm though, prototypical size, and he can run. Someone's going to look at Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, Kalen Hurts, and Lincoln Riley and conclude that Rattler is going to develop into a star in the NFL.

Ridder just isn't good. I've read reports praising his accuracy, but when I saw him play last year that didn't stand out to me. He has an ok but not great arm, and he doesn't make great reads all the time. I just don't see it with him, other than his size and mobility. Then again, I'm as far from being a pro scout as it gets. Nothing pops for me though.

If you're looking at it from a Panther-centric view, I think you have to rule out Howell, Rattler, and Willis since I'm guessing they're all top 8 picks. I don't think Carolina will pick that high. I guess that's part of the reason why I've keyed in on Slovis.

Ridder looks good to me in the red zone where it counts. He looks a little like Auburn Cam in that he is a good one-read and run (if not open) qb. No he does not have a cam (or josh allen) arm but he looks dangerous the closer he gets to the GL. Since there will be plenty of knocks on “not being able to make all the throws” he should be available day two and might be a worthwhile project.

Cam and Josh Allen were high picks because they could theoretically make all the throws - which seems to be analyst-speak for having the physical ability to throw outside of NFL hash marks. So yeah, if Ridder has a weak arm he's probably not a first round quarterback, but I'll reiterate that I've only watched a few miscellaneous highlights.

Also, I'm skewed towards Howell because I watch most UNC games. Maybe Rattler is better but I've seen far more of Howell.

Sam Darnold is your franchise QB. I'm willing to bet my barry alt on it....

I still like PJ Walker. Most people seem to have jumped off that train, but bad interceptions are going to happen to young QBs. I like his arm and aggressive mindset. He feels like a long term backup to me.

Not a “franchise” QB, too red & pasty. .. but might be a “Dalton”. Shit Opie Dalton lead the bengals to 5 consecutive playoffs! So I’d take a Dalton. )

Not sure if it’s “weak” or mechanics that could be corrected. In a very small sample of longer throws he looks awkward, and when he zips shorter routes it looks like he’s pitching all the heat he’s got. He plays like a damn man though and hopefully he can be coached into an NFL QB.
