sure they can, but there is at least hope that a little new blood in the brain trust will finally address what is perpetually one of the worst O-lines in the league.
It should depend entirely on who is available after the first 7 picks. Hopefully they won’t just try and fill a single position perceived as a need (like QB for instance). Since they need OT, LB, and CB upgrades immediately I think that is what they will target. They will have a list and hopefully the most talented and NFL ready player at one of those positions will get picked at #8.
I really hope that 4 QBs are taken in the first 7 picks and pray that the panthers do not pull a dumbass desperate trade up. .. if anything trading down would be better, but I don’t ever remember them pulling that off in the past.

There are more than eight players who are more talented and a better fit on the Panthers than Darrisaw, but if we got him after trading back to the middle of the first I would not be upset.

We do need to address the line, but it doesn't necessarily have to be with our first pick. If Little had not gotten his head caved in he may already be looking like the long term solution at LT. This draft is also pretty deep at LT, although it's not as top-heavy as last year's was, and we can likely get a solid prospect at 39. If Sewell or Slater is there at 8 and we pull the trigger, that's great. Otherwise I think we should go for a QB or a really good press corner, because if those two are gone one will be available.

That's how we got John Beason and Ryan Kalil, by trading down in the first.

Too bad we wasted our other 2nd that year on Jarrett...

Yeah, we're going to mortgage our future on a project QB. McShay's also got the first for picks being QB, and the one who will probably actually go second is going fourth.

McShay had Jordan Love going at six last year, ahead of Herbert. He falls in love with projects, but somehow can't wish them into high picks.

Lance is probably going to fall out of the top 10, unless Carolina or Denver take him.

yeah it’s funny (in a bad way) how much power those two ass clowns have. I feel like they really have affected picks in the past and will probably continue to. Yet another example of media figures having WAY too much power
