Certainly need a legit pass-catching TE, but surely they don’t take him at #8. Reflecting on the SB validated what we already knew; QB is a given, O-line, LB, legit pass rushers, secondary.

Mahomes never had a chance. Take that in context to his scrambling ability and receiving corps, including Kelsey.

I know we're all supposed to be sucking Bowles' dick about this but is anyone asking why the chiefs were so insistent on NOT running the ball in the first half?

Fair question. What I recall was them running wide. TB’s speed answered that bell. I didn’t watch the entire game, in full disclosure.

Clyde was getting enough positive yardage but KC was too cocky to not keep trying for the big splash. Too impatient to just take what was given. Even without Ts who can pass block they could have kept running.
Yep, seemed a lot like SB 50. You just can’t stick to a passing game plan if you can’t protect your QB.
I’ve switched gears now towards wanting LT in the first. The panthers need their Jordan Gross in the 1st. .. but who would that be? The Oregon hog won’t be there, so who’s the next best thing

I'm thinking a Luke is just as hard to replace as a Gross.
The D wouldn't haven't gotten gashed near the same rate with even a semi competent MLB.

Harder i think. Parsons is supposedly very good, but he’s no Luke. Luke was a rare elite talent, faster and better instincts than any ILB in this class. If there is not a T equivalent to Gross’ talent then maybe they would do best to go with CB. .. dunno, All I do know is that carolina needs ELITE talent at 4 or 5 positions and they damn sure better hit on that (at least with #8 overall)

In 2019 our defense gave up 4.7 yards per carry, good enough for the 27th ranked rushing defense. So maybe we would have gotten gashed, even with a HOF-caliber MLB.

It doesn't matter how good your players are, if you have no gap control they're going to look average at best.
