home automation

anybody dabble with this stuff?

i just set up an intel nuc to control my ip cams and i think i opened up a whole new avenue to explore.

not sure if i want to home brew something via linux or try to buy things that say they'll work together. my gut says homebrew is going to provide better interoperability.

i've been checking out this "konnect" system to replace/tap into my home security system and apparently it can also be used to run sprinklers.

i'm concerned i'm going down the rabbit hole...
