He’s a Pete guy. Spent two decades in Seattle. Doesn’t give a shit about analytics. At least, not enough to talk a lot about it. He was their college scouting director for Pete’s first four years there. Go back and look, they had some pretty kick ass drafts.

Pete was largely responsible for that, too. As was Scot Mcloughan. But Fitterer was the director of their college scouting.

Here’s what I’m hearing: the owner and coach in Carolina aren’t exactly meshing as they had thought they would. It’s not red flag status. But, there’s been reporting on it from Joe, and his well sourced.

It’s an analytics v scouting debate. One reason they interviewed so many guys was to give each of them a wide range to choose from. It feels like Matt got what he wanted in the GM, since Tepper was pressing hard for a data guy. Feels like Dave is giving Matt one more thing on top of the 50,000 things he’s already has (Absurd contract, and 11th hour bonus to the contract to block New York, bring all your assistance with you, bring in Bridgewater, cut Cam if u wanna). Dave is not exactly the ball buster people think.

As for the recent disconnect: Again, that’s based on some reporting from the athletic, which does mention some disconnect between the two guys. That does happen in the NFL, but it certainly doesn’t usually end up in the papers right as your second off season kicks off together.

By the way, 68% of last year’s coaching staff coach was at either Baylor or Temple before Carolina. Of the eight who were non-Rhule guys, four of them are either gone now, or interviewing for other jobs.

When he says he’s just a coach, he’s not being totally candid. His DNA is all over this roster, and that’s fine. Just be clear about it. If somebody asks you about Taylor Moton contract, don’t be a evasive about it.

But, yes, I think this GM will be fine. He has spent a lot of time around a really smart group. Pete and Schneider do things the right way up there.

I still don’t think Matt’s going to be here in two or three years. He gives me that vibe. I don’t have any sources on that. I’ve just watched a fuck ton of football for 25 years, and I’ve seen like 10 guys like him flame out.

He needs to win 10 games this year. I think the owner feels that way too.

Now that I've gotten my bad joke out of the way.. bull the seahawks always seemed to draft to a profile (big physical corners, fast linebackers, crappy tackles etc) there anything in rhules history to suggest he prefers that sort of style or was he more of a i can deal with squares in holes type?

Good stuff on the behind the scenes the pipeline to his old pals was pretty obvious more worrisome that the few outsiders are trying or at least willing to leave.
