In the thread on Matt Biondi's whereabouts, there was a link to a site that will give you the overall ratings for all of the radio stations in the Charlotte market. At the home page, just pull down the city listing and select CHARLOTTE-GASTONIA . . . The next book will come out on January 16, which is Thursday . . .

Tonight's poll question: Will WFNZ's O-V-E-R-A-L-L ratings for Winter 2003 be higher or lower than the Fall 2002 book (1.3 I will assume is the correct figure**) ? ?

** I will assume P1/P2 are for Overall Men and Men 23-54 (or whatever the demo WFNZ is always shooting for) respectively  ? ? ?

My Vote: I think the ratings from the Winter 2003 book will be higher vs. Fall 2002. Most of the folks who use to listen to GerryV when he was over at WBT have migrated over to PRIMETIME I'll bet you . . . This will be the 1st full book with GerryV out of the market if I'm correct . . . They will end up with a 1.5 for the ratings period :) . . .

    In Defense of WFNZ

In Defense of WFNZ and all sports stations the rating you see on the webb pages are for 12+ Sunday thru the week. That includes men and women.I 've had this argument many times with folks.WFNZ is concerned with men numbers( as they should be) 18-34 is key as well as 25-54.The other numbers are not as vital to their existence. The CUME in those demos is what they will look at to see if it has grown now that they are the only show in town.
Its not fair to simply look at 12+ on a ratings webb site.....12+ men gives you the total audience..the other two demos i mentioned is where there money is...( in the future with sports demos changing the female #'s will eventually add to your cume an open some sales doors in that direction since wowmen in NASCAR....NBA & NFL are the fastest growing demos in sports!

The reason Sports Stations never show up strong in the overall is due to the specfic demos they chase......stations like this get bad raps for the wrong reason.......now if your cume stays flat in your key demos then thats another story...

PLUS $$$$$$$$ generated is of course the major player.

I always argue with folks in the radio bizz about numbers and how SPORTS gets a bad rap 'cause folks don't know how to break out sports numbers......NEWS TALK STATION that do sports have a broader mix because of the format....

I had a meeting about this topic last night with sosme radio folks..( yeah the dinner was major!!!.....
