Personnel mismanagement on defense.

Just take a look at these back to back plays. Look at the utter incompetence from the staff in terms of utilizing the wrong people in the wrong situations in the wrong spots.

Again: These were back to back plays. B&B talked about Butler being used on the edge in passing downs. This was a good example of how fucking stupid that was.

 

It’s bad enough that they’re trying to run a 34 defense. But then they also have Brian Burns in on 13 personnel, and they have Butler off the edge on third and long. That feels like a fireable offense.

If I could give more than 1 like without creating an alt, I would.

 

Moving to a 34 takes time to get things in line. You got guys under contract and the salary cap...cant cut them all at once. It'll start gelling next year, already has shown signs. This team is in rebuild mode...buckle up!

 

The 3-4 is a bad fit regardless, but I can't imagine Ron's helped us by spending all offseason bloviating about the alignment change. Not giving our opponents several months to scheme up run plays that would neutralize Luke Kuechly may have actually been a better strategy.



And he's done this with the media multiple times, on both sides of the ball. I keep thinking it's clever misdirection, but then we actually do what Ron told everybody we'd do. It's pretty god damn stupid. It's like he forgets that he just walked into the press room, and he actually thinks he's talking to his staff.
