Ohhhh ok. I gotcha now. We are just going to take away cam’s ability to run and negate that from his playing history. Yeah. Makes total sense to do that.

You could very well be right. I actually hope we are both wrong. But I’ve mostly reconciled to the fact that his body is simply shot.

What? I didn't say that, I made the running points in showing those numbers.

By the same point you posted: So cam gets a pass when he loses his ability to run and he's delhomme dressed in his grandma's night attire? Yeah. Makes total sense to do that.

You obviously didn't mean that either. I'm not sure how you can argue with the numbers I posted and what we have with him now, if in fact, he's no longer superman mobility. I'd like to see it somewhere in the middle, insfar as a threat, especially.

As I said in another thread, I would absolutely love for Allen to get another win or two (or however many games he plays), have cam come in and light it up and make Allen look like a competent backup and pat him on the back for doing nice work.

I'm not on board with throwing cam in the trash like a lot of fans will be. No matter how much I criticize the guy.

It's be nice if he became more of a superman throwing the ball and not expect his receivers to be supermen trying to catch his passes. Also hold the ball less.

Nope. Cam doesn’t get a pass. My point is that he is already the best QB the team has ever had. He doesn’t have to take another snap...and like I said elsewhere, he might not. They guy has played hurt for the better part of four years. He has, for the most part, had very few weapons around him. But as he showed in the first half of the season last year that he can be efficient and effective. Unfortunately, I don’t think his body will allow him to even do that anymore.

This question comes down to the health of Cam's shoulder. Because he's not the athlete he once was, it's critical for Cam to create chunk plays in the passing game to help keep defenses from stacking the box, and since the injury he just hasn't been throwing downfield as often or as well as he used to. Kyle Allen is not only a more accurate passer, he's brought back some of that downfield element even though he doesn't have the kind of arm strength that pre-injury Cam displayed. I still go back to Cam when he's healthy because of his rushing threat and his leadership, but he needs to be healthy enough to play well and not just healthy enough to play. As law1ng2b2 notes, before the injury Cam was doing extremely well from the pocket, but none of us knows if he'll ever get back to that. Shoulder injuries are generally bad news for a quarterback's career.

unfortunately man I think you've got it right. He HAS been playing hurt it seems forever, and fuck the carolina brain trust for not getting him more/better protection. They have not made a high enough priority of getting a solid (NFL starting talent) o-line in front of him. Yes, a significant percentage of the damage was incurred due to some poor decisions by cam, but c'mon . .. when was the last time an earnest attempt was made to significantly upgrade an O-line slot?
He was a man among boys in college, but the NFL is like prison . .. there are always bigger tougher mother fuckers than you and you have a shelf-life. I am also starting to believe that cam's may be expired as an effective winning NFL QB.

Right now I'd say stick with Kyle until we lose again, then roll Cam back out.

If we're winning, what's the hurry? Save him for the stretch run.
