BPC-157

    My knee feels awesome. Today is the last day of the BPC+, I'm looking forward to seeing what the next run does for me.

    I am not documenting them anywhere formally, but I don't mind sharing here. Basically, my knee wasn't healing and I was getting impatient. I would try and work it a little, then it would flare up, and I was sick of the almost constant pain whenever I moved around. It wasn't BAD pain, but it sucked anyway. So I'm researching and asking around and a colleague recommended this article: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/article/supplements-articles/how-to-use-bpc-157/. I didn't want to give myself a shot every day, so I decided to try the oral supplement he mentions. Note that it isn't pure BPC-157, but very close and it's supposed to mimic the results.

    While I'm doing this, I'm also taking several supplements that are anti-inflammatory (e.g.Tumeric) and I'm taking collagen as well. I'm doing all this on a keto diet too, so there's that. I've been losing weight steadily, which could have a positive impact as well, even though it hasn't been more than a couple pounds a week.

    A week in, I could feel a real difference in my knee, like stuff was moving around in there. The parts that had been hurting no longer hurt as bad, but there were other small pains cropping up. A big surprise to me was that my Morton's Nueroma was flaring up in a weird way. That's an issue in the foot, BTW, you can look it up if you're curious. It was clear that the supplement was having an effect but I wasn't sure what it would be.

    During my second week I became pretty sure that the effect was going to be super positive. I had to stop wearing my toe spacer because it got uncomfortable, but the neuroma wasn't making me crazy without it. The knee pain decreased until it was almost non-existent. And then just like that it all returned at the end of the second week and the beginning of the third. This time around, the pain was weird because it occurred more in the places that hurt initially and less in the annoying ones that wouldn't go away. I also had to start wearing my toe spacer again.

    The second two weeks basically mimicked the first two, with a continuous improvement. When I reached the end of my 30 days course my knee felt like it was close to 100%, with no pain. I did a 50 mile bike ride on it, and didn't suffer for it the next day. I've been jogging on it as well, with no ill effects. It's on the way to 100%. I'm at work in dress shoes with no spacer and don't feel the neuroma at all, even on stairs (where it used to be outright painful).

    Based on what I've read at this point, I will wait two weeks and then do another four week course, and then do that once more. This time I'm doing the reconstituted pure powder and injecting it, just to see if it's better. I think my knee will be fine and no longer needs it, but I'm really curious to see what happens after three full courses. I'm cautiously optimistic that my "won't ever heal without surgery" Neuroma may go away, which is big to me because I like to run.

    Sounds like positive improvement. Think it'll work for shoulder problems?

    No prescription needed. Not sold for human consumption though, it's for research purposes only.

    You might go for the Dr. Seeds option at first like I did, it's about $60 for a month.

    Ok, so I'm starting another four week cycle tomorrow. This time I'm doing injections. I'm still largely Keto, although I've stalled at 205 and am cheating like hell this weekend. I'm going to continue taking my anti-inflammatory supplements like fish oil, cinnamon, and turmeric.

    When I ended my first four week cycle I felt really, really good. My knee is not what it was then, but it's really much better than it was when it started. I can do a lot on my knee that I couldn't before the first cycle, but it's not 100%. It hurts when I get my leg caught in an awkward situation, like getting my foot tangled in an air hose. I can run on it fine. With all that said, there's no good reason to say that this wouldn't have happened on it's own, but I think the first cycle really helped me heal. On a different note, my Neuroma is also better than it was before I started my first cycle, but I'm wearing my toe spacer daily right now. If I don't, my foot goes clickety-clack all damn day long.

    I'll document this cycle weekly, for those who are interested.

    I did the low carb thing and dropped a lot of weight. It just wasn't sustainable for me. I mean i dont want to feel bad if i drink a couple of beers

    If I can fix my lifestyle I can maintain any weight despite drinking beer and eating pizza. I just need to get back on the bike, etc... Maybe that will happen soon, my knee no longer punishes me for that stuff so I really have to excuse

    Here's a quick check-in halfway through my second round. Red is interested, so I'm posting it.

    My knee started out better than it did the first time, obviously, so I was in for a little bit of a shock in the first week. Everything in my knee tightened up, especially my ACL. No pain, but enough tightness in there to make things uncomfortable. It's crazy how this stuff hits the damaged areas in your body so well. I was not comfortable jogging or doing any exercise on it, and I was very comfortable before starting the second round.

    I spent the weekend working on my daughter's room, basically doing a complete renovation that involved baseboard work and molding, so I was sitting in an uncomfortable position and one that stretched my knee a lot. That resulted in some actual pain, or it could have been this stuff mucking around in there. Either way, my knee swelled up like a grapefruit, which it hasn't done in a long time. After the weekend things started to feel better, and while things are still tight in there they're tight in a way that makes me aware of the knee and doesn't hurt. It still feels a little swollen, but that's it.

    Based on the first round, I'm about to go through some big improvements. Two more weeks to go.
