Blow up this offense

Receivers suck balls, offensive line suck and cam can't hit a stationary player

 

I agree, but it's going to be hard regardless if Cam doesn't want to get better on his own. Shula called plays today that had receivers open and Cam missed most of them. He'll need a guy like Hue Jackson who can coach around a QB's bad habits.

 

I should also point out that fixing the offense won't automatically fix the defense, which has also been very shitty for most of the year. This is a holistic problem.

 

The pass defense has been atrocious but the run defense has been fine aside from that embarrassing lack of effort on the Coleman run today. The Panthers have allowed more passing yards than any team in the NFL despite also leading the league in sacks. Speaking of which, how is this team leading the league in sacks when Addison leads the team with 8.5, Short is the next highest with 6, and no one else has more than four? Short and Lotulelei are both about to get paid, maybe by the Panthers but probably some other team. The team desperately needs a new safety beside Coleman and a new corner opposite Bradberry.

 

As for the offense, Cam is a lost cause. He's never going to work on his technique and the beating he has taken has decreased his explosiveness. This team really has to get back to the running game which means finding someone who can help Stewart carry the load and upgrading the offensive line to open up more holes.

I hate to be nihilistic on Christmas, but it probably doesn't matter much what we do. We've had two bites at the Super Bowl apple. I really don't expect another chance as good as the last one we had in my lifetime. That really should have been our year.
