This season was the epitome of a losing season, both in record and in spirit. A team that was corrupted by last year's magic carpet ride, and because of such overestimated how well our "system" works. A team that sat on their hands and knees during the offseason and allowed the rest of the division to bypass us. A quick rebound is possible with a ton of cap space, but that feels like more of a cruel tease than any real hope, since Gettleman will undoubtedly continue to lowball elite free agents. The post season press conference will be filled with built in excuses (injuries, close games, etc) which will cover up the fact that the roster is magnificently depleted, the head coach and Offensive Coordinator are extremely unimaginative, and the quarterback is reaching sub-Osweiler level passing with exponentially diminishing running ability. It's an albatross which Mike Shula is totally unqualified for, but Rivera lacks the balls and intelligence to find a better option.

Holy crap. I'm in Uruguay and couldn't find it on tv anywhere so I ended up listening to the second half on the radio. When Eugene Robinson mentioned Cam's poor play I knew it was over, just didn't know how badly.
Theisman nailed it with Cam - if he spent as much time working on his mechanics as he did his wardrobe he would be so much better.

 

When this team has an early turnover, you may as well stop watching. No team I've ever watched relies on the turnover margin more than the Carolina Panthers.

 

Trading Rivera to the Rams for a high pick and hiring away Shanahan from Atlanta would be an Alpha Boss move by Gettleman, but that has no chance of happening. Honestly there's several ways to get this back on track, but since I know we won't consider them, it's just too frustrating to think about. I'm just going to watch next week's game, cheer like a lunatic, and then wait for whatever happens this spring. No expectations whatsoever.

 

And a lot of Falcons fans are still assholes.

I came very close to making a run for it this morning, meaning I was literally in the lane to get onto the interstate. I decided at the very, very last moment that it wasn't worth the 90 mile trip. I'm glad I didn't go, because it keeps my absurd, personal winning streak alive for another year - The Panthers haven't lost a game I've attended since October 25, 2009.
