    Weird, I always had this feeling since I was a little kid. It seemed like there was always more opportunity if you went for it... assuming you were outside the 20, I guess.

    I guess the Bible passages that say most teams should punt on 4th down were only metaphors?

    I tend to agree that the punter is the most overused position in sports, but there's times when you have to punt. That article is an example of statistics defeating common sense.

    If you are 4th and 2 at your own 30 yard line (and your offense has not been getting crushed), maybe you should not punt.

    I think any team that punts more than twice a game is doing something wrong, one way or another.
