Gettleman is clearly doing some good stuff.

Oline, Dline. Coleman, Cotchery, Tillman, Dickson.

I put a lot of the success of these players on coaching.

Re DL, team playing great without CJ/Hardy, we have been blitzing a ton more to get pressure. DE is not that great, seems like to me. Allen was a nice get.

I like CJ and all, but his cost is way more than he's worth overall, considering the others we have as well.

I'd love to keep him, but not at his bloated cost.

How does it affect the cap to cut him, rather than redo his salary (if that's possible). He dang sure is not going to get what he's getting anywhere else. Which is prolly why he's biotching about lack of playing time- not being able to showcase himself knowing he might have to go elsewhere.

Michael Oher has been terrible this season, for the record. Kawann Short was a phenomenal draft pick and Gettleman deserves extra credit for that, but most of his other picks have been garbage. Coleman is the only one of Gettleman's free agent signings that has actually been good. Would you rather have Brandon LaFell or Jerricho Cotchery? Gettleman's decisions have almost nothing to do with this team's success. He's made one idiotic decision after another that fortunately haven't come back to bite the team, at least so far.

Jared Allen has played nine games with the Panthers. He has two sacks.

I'm just glad Oher isn't Bell.

You aren't gonna see me lobbying for us to pay him 8 million in 2016 but we needed help, and he was bottom dollar by NFL standards. Apparently they like him enough to keep CJ on the bench.

Complaining about Gettleman or any decision makers of the team feels a little petty right now. I fully get that fans are prisoners of the moment, and that there are mistakes we've made that are being masked by the euphoria of a 13-0 season. But big picture, this team is going to the divisional round of the playoffs for a third straight year. It's hard to replicate that level of consistant success in the NFL.

There's a lot of things the team could have done differently three years ago. We could have fired the whole coaching staff. We could have cut Josh Norman and nobody here would have batted an eye. We probably could have even given up on Cam the same way Washington gave up on RG3. I think JR and Gettleman both deserve a ton credit for keeping the hand in the fire long enough for a turnaround to happen.

We could have put Luke in a spaceship and sent him to Mars too. Firing the coaching staff is realistic. I agree with you about crediting JR and Gettleman for staying with them.

But I am not gonna ever go around spouting Gettlemagic! every time we sign an UDFA that starts. I am more going to view it as we had such a gaping hole that we were scraping the bottom of the barrel to fill it.

The truth is I will begrudgingly credit his successes while hating him for slapping us in the face with the way he ran Smitty off and brought Roman Harper in. I know that's petty, but fuck him for that. When he apologizes, I will accept. Until then, he's an asshole.

I definitely think it's retarded to say that Gettleman "built" this team.

I think he's an average executive, in a league where there aren't many above average executives.
