I could live with Moses at #28, but wouldn't be thrilled. My preferences would be:

#1) RaShede Hageman, DT, Minnesota - I know how insane it sounds to take another DT, but Hageman is on Star's level in terms of talent and college production. He doesn't have Lotulelei's motor, but I believe criticisms of RaShede have been way too hard in that respect. Hageman and Aaron Donald were the two most productive DL this past season by far. If Hageman was truly lazy, I don't see how he could be making an impact that frequently. Anyone interested who didn't see Minnesota this season should take a look and form their own opinion: Ra’Shede Hageman | Draft Breakdown

#2) Xavier Su'a-Filo, OG, UCLA - I think he'll go earlier than #28, yet most mocks don't have him that high. Although he isn't capable of playing offensive tackle, Su'a-Filo is an NFL-ready, impact guard. In what will become a running theme, I don't understand why he isn't being more highly rated. He looks like a future Pro Bowl guard to me.

#3) Take Bridgewater if he falls that far - I know, I'm completely alone on this one and I'm ok with it. Teddy Bridgewater is going to be a better pro quarterback than Cam Newton, and Cam is about to get incredibly expensive. As insanely unconventional and risky as it would be, which is why it won't happen, Newton would fetch a boatload of draft picks from some desperate team.

#4) One of the cornerbacks - Dennard if he somehow fell anywhere near #28 would immediately leap to the very top of my wants list, but even assuming he's gone there are quite a few quality corner prospects who would match BPA with need. We've gone over Kyle Fuller from the time I suggested him as a great second round pick back when the mocks had him that low. Bradley Roby is another guy whose talent is commensurate with a first round selection. Jason Verrett would also be a worthy selection, although he's not as strong as the others and therefore might not be as appealing to this particular defensive scheme. The point is, there's a lot of quality CB talent that will definitely be around at #28. While it isn't the biggest need, it still is one and therefore would make for a good fallback option.

#5) Morgan Moses, OT, Virginia - It's entirely possible and likely probable that some of the WRs will end up having better pro careers than Moses, but he should be a relatively safe although low upside selection for a team in desperate need of competent offensive tackles. I would presumably never end up taking him since I can't imagine everyone from #1 through #4 being off the board by #28, but Moses wouldn't be a terrible choice.

Sua-Filo feels like the most Gettleman pick to me

It will not matter, but would the 2015 option that was just activated affect our cap when Cam gets traded?

If we get Bridgewater and he succeeds, Shula will have a name as a developer of great QBs.

It becomes fully guranteed if cam is on the roster day 1 of the 5th year (when the option kicks in) so it would hurt us then but before that there is no cap penalty as far as I can tell.

There would be no cap penalty for trading him at all, as guaranteed salary is assumed by the acquiring team. It's an interesting thought exercise, but I can't imagine the riots that would ensue from angry locals if Gettleman tried that so soon after Smith.

If I were 100% certain about Bridgewater I would be all for it. Haven't really thought much about him.

It would take brass balls, I'll give him that. I wouldn't have the balls to try it.

I'm pretty sure we would take a top DT, and I'd be all for that. This is probably Edwards' last year, and while I feel good about Short I'm not sold on him as an early down player yet.

It takes unbelievable arrogance to even suggest it. Wait ...
