I'll be looking forward to the mugshots.

So, now we have no WR on the roster with an NFL catch, correct?

That is my understanding, yes. Zero catches. The Panthers will use a four running back offense next season.

I obviously don't know Mr. Gettleman, but this is a back-stabbing move and one that makes me much less interested in the Panthers as a fan. He could have made something work and chose not to. We have a guy with this kind of work ethic and excitement level and he's not rewarded for his loyalty and effort in the community and on the field? Not to mention - as you guys already have - there is no replacement on our roster. And, it costs/wastes money unnecessarily. And, if we want to talk about the sport being a "business," then this seems like a piss poor business move. Unacceptable from my perspective. Even if we end up winning the Super Bowl next year.

Watch him go to a Division rival and burn our ass...

This sucks. Maybe the Saints sign him and he comes home and lights the Panthers asses up.

Agreed. I really am pissed about this and will not attend any more games. Fuck em. Seriously. It's not that they are going to release him, it's the way they are going about it. At this point I seriously don't give a shit who they sign or their record next year. Also, who would want to sign with a shitty club who treats their best player EVER like this?

Good lord people, get a grip.

You people act as if 89 is still a superstar. He's not, not even close . Yes, our WR position is a huge weakness, but it is a huge weakness even with 89 here. We've known since last year (or even earlier ) that we will have to rebuild this position, let's do it.

We still have a number of areas to fix ( OL / WR/ DB), and we're not going to do it in one draft. Also thanks to Hurney the idiot, our cap space is still screwed as well, so we can't sign the top 3 FA's every year.
Have some $#@@ patience, and stop spouting off about returning PSL's and how Gettleman is a moron because he hasn't fixed 10 years of Hurney blunders in 1 offseason.

That's a bit of a straw man argument...the vast majority of fans already think their team's GM is an idiot.

Colossal moron, no one is complaining about Gettleman not fixing Hurney's blunders. We're complaining about Gettleman creating his own. If you cannot grasp that then you are too stupid to post without supervision. And while we're covering your unforgivable idiocy, the WR position actually wasn't a weakness at all in 2013. Mike Shula was, but the WRs most definitely were not.
