I would like to think that a top DE could provide more but I guess we could have someone who couldn't even do that. I'm probably wrong but still hoping for a trade. We need some freaking picks and some money more than we need one DE.

Gettleman is engaging and honest during his press conferences, which is what everyone wants, but this is precisely why Fox and Belichick and most others are painfully boring while talking to the media. This is the darkside of being an interesting interview. Once Gettleman publically spoke his mind about Smith, he created a story that didn't need to exist and there was pretty much no turning back for either side.

All he had to say was we're evaluating every player. Bet he does that next time.

If the team is a disaster this season, there may not be another next time.

I want to believe this but then I remember that Hurney stayed on after 2-14. Plus gman can buy himself time by forcing out people below him...

    This isn't improvement.

Ultimately, the product will be determined on the field, but we were a hair away from the NFCCG, and it appears we're blowing shit up now? Why didn't we do that when he took over?

THis shit looks like he has no idea what he's doing....guess there's a new SHERIFF IN TOWN, PARDS! The fat fuck!

I'm hoping this comes out after the fact, and we all go 'oh'.

Gettleman did well last offseason aquiring pieces. I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt, here.

    Gotta be more to it.

The problem is that most of those pieces were one and done contracts and many performed well enough to price themselves out of the Panthers ability to retain them. You won't be able to make that model work year after year.

Did he really, though? There was cap space to bring in a veteran offensive tackle and Gettleman refused to even create competition for Byron Bell. The Ginn signing worked out well, although it looks like he's already gone after one season, but selecting Star was a no-brainer and I can't think of anything else he'd deserve credit for.

    Yep.

One could even say Klein out performed Blackburn in some respects.
