We resign to long term deal

We franchise and he returns to Panthers in 2014

    We franchise and trade him

We lose him with no compensation (other than compensatory pick)

    You suck at making polls.

He leaves and we get a pick

And then bring back Peppers as a cost effective replacement.

That's what I would like us to do, but I actually think we'll somehow keep him with a huge backloaded contract.

I'd also like to be able to wear my Peppers jersey again without people looking at me like I've got my hand up a little boy's asshole.

I'm in the tag and trade camp too. Gettleman seems like the kind of guy that won't give a "very very good" player an elite contract, but he's too smart to lose Hardy and get nothing.

Trade gets him to the AFC possibly, or at least out of the division. Plus compensation and better cap flexibility for us. I like him but we can't pay the kind of money he will get, I just cant see it happening. Maybe one year on the tag, figure out something with CJ but I don't think so. The last thing I see happening is giving him the contract (edit: that I think) he wants.

I think Peppers goes to TB if he comes free, maybe Costner can tape a gay pirate on that jersey.

Tag and trade is harder to do than trading under a signed contract, but it's possible. I don't know what to think regarding Hardy. My eyes tell me that he disappears against good teams and gets out of position against the run, but the QB hurries and other performance metrics like him a lot better. When CJ was out you could see how much that hurt the defense, but is that specific to CJ or indicative of when this defense doesn't have two fearsome DEs on opposite sides? I suppose I'm hiding under the copout that I don't feel strongly enough to want one particular course of action and therefore I guess I'll be ok with anything short of Hardy getting a truly obscene contract.

If there weren't such massive needs on the OL, I'd feel better about letting him walk and taking a DE at #28.
