So I'm curious as to what people here would actually grade this guy in his first outing.

He had his moments. But in the end, 125 yards for Newton, isn't near enough. Thomas talked about being tested by a fresh receiver right after the go route from Baldwin, and the OC's savvy knowing that he'd be gassed for the second go 'round....did we do anything like that? We have Smith and Ginn, who are both very fast...we didn't set up deep PA with the run but once...

I know some here are trying to blame Newton...but honestly, I thought he played marvelously within the confines of a restricting and thoughtless offensive gameplan....

    I agree.

    In the presser:

"Cam, what did they do to take away your deep passing game?"

Cam: "I believe we just stuck to our schedule. It wasn't anything they did, we just had a gameplan going into this game, and uh, I believe we just stuck to it."

..."We just have to be more aggressive"....

Shula wasn't as awful as I thought he'd be, but was still unacceptably bad.

We stuck to our schedule - our 7-9 schedule.

Reminds me of an offense I watched down in Tampa in the late 90's... it was very offensive... only they had a better defense

So seriously, I'd give him a D. We ran the ball against a stout D like champs, 26 carries for 134 yards and a 5.2 ypc average but didn't do what that kind of run game should allow, which is throwing deep off the play fake. Got too conservative in the second half. Can't sit on a 7-6 lead in the league.

That one play where Olsen ran the wheel route out of the backfield and Cam hit him the knee was a great play call but not executed.....

    Hope he learns from this.

It is depressingly reminiscent of his time as the Bucs' OC. I think it's also fair to say there's a reason why he hadn't been an OC since 1999.
