For all the early pro bowl talk he was getting he only put up 4 TD's in his 9 games. He has been productive for them but also a bit of a headache.

To get a first for a guy the staff obviously wasn't in love with is pretty good.

But it all depends on Patterson TBH. This was an important draft for Minn, they better hope it works out better than it did for the Jets when they had all those 1st rounders.

The question is, if Jax suck so bad they get the #1, can they afford to pass on Bridgewater or Manziel for Clowney.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Johnny football suck this year and stay another year

Passing on Clowney would be fantastically stupid, but I guess in the zomg qb driven league!1! era anything is possible. I guess a team really needing a QB could do worse than picking Bridgewater.

The media loves a jack-of-all player. Of course, if Harvin was white he's be "strictly a slot guy/kick returner".

My initial reaction was like yours, but the more I think about it the more I could see myself taking Bridgewater over Clowney if I were a GM. A lot of it will depend on how those guys look this season, but Clowney's dominance is in part because he's playing against inferior talents. Herm Edwards did a nice job the other day pointing out that college teams weren't doubling Clowney or even chipping him. You also notice on tape that Clowney stands up on the snap, giving away leverage, which is the same problem Peppers had. He relies on quickness to then elude the block and shoot a gap, but that won't be as easy in the NFL. He's still an All-Pro talent, don't get me wrong, but he has flaws. Meanwhile Bridgewater isn't just hype. I'd probably take Clowney, yet I could see Jacksonville specifically making the argument for Bridgewater given their obvious need behind center.

    edit:
No on Manziel, though. I don't think he should be a first round pick, much less go top five.
