Got an answer on the process here- via PFT

This year, the league says only 481 of them actually did. That’s 28.3 percent of all active players.

“All players are given the opportunity to vote through ballots we send to all 32 teams around Thanksgiving,” NFL Network spokesman Alex Riethmiller told PFT via email. “For convenience sake, we try to time it with Pro Bowl balloting, so they can do them together. In addition to ballots collected that way, we also give ballots to many of the players that we interview for our shows. This year, in total, we received 481 votes.”

To vote, each player lists only his top 20 players in the league. The player listed at No. 1 gets 20 points, the player listed at No. 2 gets 19 points, and the process continues until the player listed at No. 20 gets one point.
    ....
The voting period extended from late November 2012 through early April 2013.

It's amazing how much the national perception of Cam changed in one year, even though we clearly saw both sides of him in 2011. Overall I'm pretty happy to have him. I'm leery of this talk about how he's "maturing" because people said the same thing about Vince Young right before his career went to shit, but there are definitely worse quarterbacks to have.

Best thing to happen to Cam was Luck, Griffin3, Wilson and Colin K bursting on the scene and taking the spotlight with them...

    Huh? Snipped from NFL.com
Champ Bailey: Cam Newton is a bigger Michael Vick | NFL.com

Never mind, I saw what's being referenced. The above is the ass polishing before the game. After the game (where his team lost), another story. Though I pretty much agree with Bailey's later comments.

I don't have issue with Champs thoughts per say. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Its NFLN's editing I have an issue with. I dont think i've ever seen them show anyone displaying negative opinions on any player in the list before that Cam piece.

McCoy, Cameron and I think Gates had positive things to say. But NFLN made a point of addressing Cam falling a few spots in ranking with Champs "not impressed" comments. He may have a point and the comments were probably taken out of context a little. They did beat us good but I dont know how anyone wouldnt be impressed by a QB passing for almost 8000 yards and rushing for another 1400 in his first 2 years. Just sounds like haterade to me.

Just another Bullet in the chamber Cam.
