Started thinking about this while talking about adding another TE.

Last year, the 49ers converted backup defensive end Demarcus Dobbs into a two-way player, serving as the blocking TE in jumbo sets while still spot playing at DE. They also had another backup DL moonlighting as a fullback in their big sets. That seems, to me, a more practical thing to do than using roster and cap space on guys like Hartsock and Brockel, who really aren't good blockers anyway.

I'd like us to start getting in on stuff like that. Especially given our cap situation over the next few years, I think verstility and creativity are in order.

I would be down with some creativity and versatility. Chud and Cam were just beginning to wash over the stink of dullness left by John Fox.

I mean, who knows? Maybe Fua can play tight end.

    Bring the Fridge outta retirement.

Anyone remember the 9ers splitting Leonard Davis out wide last year. That shit was funny as hell. Dont think they ever ran a play tho, penalty/TO or something.

It makes sense for jumbo sets. That said, I still want a legitimate tight end who can actually block.
