Despite interest from teams. Wish the fucker had done this while under contract may have helped our cap

Was wondering about that and why he waited until he was released.

How would it help our cap? Those signing bonus dollars have to be accounted for at some point unless he returned the money...and he's not going to do that.

You guys forget that players are not really interested in 'helping' their current team unless they get something out of it.

He was signed through 2014. Keeping him and letting him retire while still under contract would have been the same as making him a June 1st cut.

Which would have resulted in the same cap hit for 2013 because there were no pro-rated amounts remaining. The only cap items for 2014 was a base salary of $8.85 mil.

Well that might give a clue as to one reason why he wasn't traded.

    Good for him.

I know around here, we like to crucify our own, and criticize the fuck out of our guys the very SECOND they are cut, retire, or whatever....but Gamble was a damn good player for us.

I'm happy he's going out his way.

He served us well, and now he's out of the game. Can't ask for more.
