That just seems to be the way the schedule shakes out. I can't remember the last playoff team the Panthers beat outside of the division. (Oh, Washington, duh. But they hardly count.)

Yeah, the schedule sure looks favorable on the back side both seasons but damn, looking back I cant help but get the feeling we really missed out on an opportunity to make the playoffs. We really only got whipped in 2 games last year.

We took advantage of the NO situation and finally got over the ATL hump. But losing twice to Tampa after the whoopings we put on them last year was so dissapointing. And in close loses to Dallas, Chicago, Sea, ATL and the Chiefs being emotionally charged. Had we started the season more in tune the season could have looked so differently.

I realise im being a bit of a fanboy here and some of the wins could have gone the other way too but damn, a bit more luck and maybe not going 2-8 and things could have been so different.

Its kinda crazy to think after the Skins game that they managed to make the playoffs.

    this is depressing. From yaz
We have yet to see the Carolina Panthers make their salary-cap purge.

They have restructured a couple of contracts to get to about $10 million over the cap. But they’re going to have to release some players before the start of the league year on March 12, because they’re only going to make things more difficult for themselves if they restructure too many more contracts.

Quite simply, the Panthers can’t afford to spread too much more money into the future. The Panthers already have a whopping $139 million committed toward the 2014 salary cap, and that’s with only 43 players under contract for that time period. The cap isn’t going to suddenly escalate by $10 million or $20 million, so the Panthers will have to go through the same thing next year.

Let’s take it even a step further down the road. For 2015, the Panthers already have $111.6 million committed toward the cap. That’s for only 20 players, and quarterback Cam Newton isn't one of them. At some point, the Panthers are going to have to give Newton a very large contract extension.

That’s why restructuring many more contracts to push money back isn’t good for the long term. The Panthers need to get some of the big money off their books now.

    Fuck Marty Hurney

Going to be very interesting, at least, watching Gettleman work.

Sorenson:. I don't call for his dismissal because I think Hurney is good at what he does.
Gantt: ...I actually think he's done a decent job and doesn't deserve to be fired.

Cutting gamble should help get a lot closer to where the panthers need to be cap wise. The cornerbacks seemed to do better without him anyways. I think a complete overhaul is coming to the secondary with all the free agents at that position on the roster.

So..unless we can be competitive with scrubs, newton walks 1st chance he gets. At least Dallas found their next qb.

Newton will get franchised for at least two years if he refuses to become the highest paid player in the league with Carolina.
