Salvaging 2013 (without f'ing up 2014)

That's the legacy of the Hurney era. Not only is the cap screwed, but there's so little that can be done about it because most of these contracts are new.

 

We'll shed Edwards? Also, if we lose Gettis! Will we keep Murphy? Any chance we shock someone and offer Stewart?

 

No. Stewart just signed a contract, so trading him would mean all of his bonus money counting against the 2013 cap, which would make his cap number enormous.

 

Same for Williams. If abrasion were to crash again early, do we cut him like Otah? Can only stay with someone so long. Seems like Davis is the exception and not the rule.

 

You talking about Stu? We just resigned him, not likely.

Other than missing 2 games in 2010, he's had a full 16 games in 3 seasons, last years ankle messed with him. He'll be alright.

 

Weird, I would have sworn that he missed more games than that.

2.5 mil for Ron Edwards
1 mil for Haruki Nakamura

We'll have to come up with the rest through restructuring. I don't think Garry Williams will be cut. Him at 1 mil and able to fill in at several postions is cheaper than a couple of guys to fill his role unless we plan on doing it with late round guys and UDFA.

 

I thought Stew had missed more than that too. Maybe it's just he always has issues preseason.

 

I think he's actually missed 9 games from 2010 to present. I was just thinking it might be out of character if they actually did something unexpected by trading him.
