Considering our cap shape I doubt if anyone on the team is going to see it but Franchise and Transition Tag values for 2013. I was reading ESPN and the Patriots are considering using the Franchise tag on Aqib Talib. Get him for a 7th? and now considering giving him 10.6 million? He is a douchebag but the way the team played in the AFC championship game after he got knocked out showed how valuable is is

I don't think corners are worth big money. Teams are winning championships with very mediocre cornerbacks.

    A 7th and 10 mil isn't a terrible price to pay for a #1 corner

It's not bad at all, but I'd pay even less. Then find replacements once they start asking for more money

I think I might argue that safety play is more important than corner.

A lot depends on scheme, but it's also not an obvious answer. For a long time I've believed that corner play was more important and you just needed a safety who wasn't an idiot, but it's such a stark difference when you watch a defense with an instinctive ball hawk back there. It's not even the interceptions so much as knowing when and where to move so that you can force the QB to check down or prevent a completion.
