Advanced NFL Stats: Cam Newton: The Best First Two Seasons Ever

Hard to argue against his passes near the endzone. He has been inaccurate and looks alot more dangerous throwing the ball from the 20.

Which is kinda where I was going with the thrower/passer comment. He throws with such velocity and low trajectory right now that when he learns to use more touch and lead receivers he could be deadly.

But id also like to see more run heavy boot action down there than weve seen.

Not a fan of 3 wide from the 2 yard line.

It's ironic that me being a fantasy football guy would be so against volume evaluation. Just having a ton of passing yards doesn't make you a good passer.

definitely a lot farther than I figured.
    More passing TDs would help.

Sure would. But keep in mind while some other QB's throw short passes for TD's padding their stats Cam runs alot in too.

Plus it prevents INTS in the endzone too.

Yeah, him too actually. Russell Wilson has been by far the best rookie quarterback. The fact that it's a debate is annoying, and proof that most NFL analysts don't have a clue what they're doing. RG3 has had some nice moments as well, but has been helped so much by that offense (few deep attempts, tons of WR screens, etc).

Kyle Shanahan has a great offense setup, sure. But until RG3 showed up, no one they brought in could run it, so you need to give credit where it is due. For me, this years crop of QB's is historically good, between Luck, RG3, Wilson and even Tannehill is better than I thought he would be. Any of those are head and shoulders above any guy coming out this year. There's a long way to go still, but it could end up comparing to the Marino/Kelly/Elway class of 1983.

Watch Washington Redskins vs. Cleveland Browns [12/16/2012] - NFL.com

Kirk Cousins - 104.4 qb rating, 70.3% completions, 329 pyds, 2 ptds, 22 ryds and Kirk Cousins sucks ass. That offense is brilliant. It is absolutely nothing like what Washington was using last season.

not surprised we struggle passing in the red zone. Cam's lack of pin point accuracy combined with Smitty's lack of red zone effectiveness and Olsen's lack of physicality makes Lafell the only real option outside of the running game.
