See, implying that I think Tim Tebow is somehow a future Hall of Fame is hysterically dishonest. At least that level of dishonesty has some comedic value, although I'm sure you didn't intend it as such. And the irony was that Elway gave Tebow so much shit when he was no better as a rookie. Maybe Tebow will never get better or maybe he will, but you won't know if he doesn't get a chance. In the meantime we know that the guy can win most of his football games.

Which is what "he shouldn't be a quarterback at all" means.

I'm pretty sure there aren't any other playoff game-winning quarterbacks who agreed to be on punt coverage. You have a personal problem with the guy over his religion that colors how you view him as a player.

I wonder if this is what the mayans were talking about.

could mean "he shouldn't be playing anything" or "he should be moved to another position. I don't really care, and honestly, he'll still be more famous than most players either way.

Just a thought but maybe because they were aware his completion percentage for passes to the sideline were a whopping 38% and that was what they were prepared to give him. (Cam completed his at 60% FWIW)

Has nothing to do with parsing words, this is a blantant fib on your part. I have no emotional feelings or bias towards Tim at all. So please stop trying to put words in other peoples mouths.

You trying to equate the Denver defense to the Panther defense has nothing to do with the conversation at all. My point wasnt how good or bad the Denver defense was in relation to the rest of the league. The FACTS are, in 5 out of 7 of "Tebows Wins" the Denver defense held the opposition to, 15,10,13,13 and 10 points. I think they did their part wouldnt you say. On top of that, in 4 of those 7 wins it was Matt Prater you scored the go ahead points to win the games. My point was that the 64% you want to attribute to Tebow comes with a mighty big asterix that the defense, special teams and #1 ranked rushing team (that yes, Tim was a part of) had its part to play in.

Not even close? How so? I mean, he has only been playing 2 years of pro ball now. He has achieved more than most of the guys you mentioned in his first 2 years than they did in theirs. He certaintly isnt going anywhere anytime soon. He is this teams franchise QB for the foreseeable future (Even JR seems to think so). I realise the wins arent there yet but in time i believe they will come. This was a 2-14 team when he joined further hindered by some horrible contracts made by the GM wouldnt you agree so I think a little lattitude is deserved.

LOL, And ive noticed you get personal when put on the defensive rather than sticking to the discussions at hand.

He did, he came thru in the 4th quarter when it mattered, much like Luck has done. But I wouldnt for the life of me put them in the same category.

But lets also keep in mind they reached the playoffs as an 8-8 TEAM and were very streaky/fox like.

    WTF?

I guess you should define what a "legitimate starting QB" is.

52.3% Cam Newton - Stats, Bio – Carolina Panthers – NFL Football – SI.com and last season Cam was below fifty. I'm not sure what your "thought" was supposed to be, but obviously if a guy is much worse throwing to the sidelines than any other part of the field, you probably shouldn't have so many of your pass plays featuring two sideline routes.

It doesn't surprise me that you aren't honest about it, but go back and look at your posting history regarding Tebow. You clearly have a strong emotional bias against him. A lot of people do, and I get why. The religious thing annoys a lot of people, and I've also written about how his playing style is hard to watch.

That's what tends to happen when you win time of possession and your quarterback doesn't turn the ball over. Hey, isn't it interesting how Carolina has won only a single game when Cam threw an interception (and that was only because Hardy knocked Palmer out of the game)? In Cam's twelve career wins the Panthers' defense has allowed an average of 16.0 points. In Tebow's seven wins last season, the Broncos allowed an average of 16.7.

Football is a team game, so yes, Tebow clearly did not win those games single-handedly or even close to it. But that defense, special teams, and rushing game were all present while the Broncos went 1-4 under Kyle Orton, right?

[IMG] We just got through discussing how being a franchise's QB does not make you a "franchise quarterback." That term refers to being an elite player. Please don't even post if you're going to make me repeat myself like this.

I prove you wrong and then explain how you annoy me. I'm not asking anyone to blindly accept what I say, but some amount of deference would be nice given that I've proven myself so many times over so many years, while you haven't.

One of the best 32 in the league. Being a below average starting quarterback applies to everyone in the 17-32 range. Apparently you're not very familiar with the definition of "average."

Coach Rex Ryan walked into his news conference before practice, took the podium and opened with: "You're not going to believe this."

Now that the New York Jets have benched Mark Sanchez, passed Tim Tebow by, and decided to go with second-year, seventh-round quarterback Greg McElroy as their short-term answer at the position, one must wonder what Tebow's future might be as an NFL passer. Under offensive coordinator Mike McCoy in Denver in 2011, Tebow was the beneficiary of a structure that worked -- Denver's coaching staff brilliantly welded the option concepts Tebow learned at Florida with just enough of an NFL passing tree to make it work.
