damn, that some rough shit. I've always liked Martin. remember covering camp in 2011 for the Panthers, and Rivera saying unequivocally at Fan Fest that Martin would likely be the nickelback for the entire season. or, at least there be a rotation with him and Pugh at safety.

since I've only watched about 3 games this year, can anybody tell me how much Martin played inside, if it all?

Look what this injury did for Adrian Peterson last year.

sucks because he was starting to reclaim some snaps, but being out of here in a few games anyway, the only thing it hurts is him. For the team it's more or less just playing the kid from Cal now. After JR singling him out, Martin had no chance of returning, but he hadn't earned it anyway.

he was slated to be the nickel this week, I think, with Munnerlyn hurt mid-game or something like that. But overall, no. He had not been used that way last year under Meeks and wasn't this year.

I tell myself after every loss that I'm not going to watch another, and then around Thursday I get excited again. I will say from the perspective of how this team has managed to lose winnable games, this has been the most excruciating Panthers season for me. Yes, even worse than 2001 or 2010. Basically, you have a dumb general manager who completely misfit the roster against the built-in schematics and philosophy. This is particularly visible on offense, as you have an abundance of running backs, overpaid underutilized, and too many receivers other than Steve Smith not making plays in crucial situations.

I digress, as we've covered all the shit before. I'm excited about the consultant, and the possibility of a strong GM presence. This is becoming much less of a players and coaches league, and much more of a front office league. For as much as we all want John Fox back, it was evident the last couple of years of his tenure that poor front office structure and bad contracts were getting the best of him.

    Oh, and get well Martin.
